Why Choose Couples Therapy?

Whether you've been sharing a bed, a home, and a bank account for years or have just embarked on a new relationship, couples therapy is a valuable investment in nurturing your love, aligning your goals, and enhancing communication between you.

Life's challenges can often damage intimacy and your sex life. Perhaps one or both of you have experienced intense betrayals that trigger feelings of insecurity, anxiety, or jealousy. Infidelity may have occurred, leading to a severe erosion of trust. Or maybe the demands of raising young children have taken a toll on your sex life and intimacy, and you yearn to rediscover each other.

I like to describe relationships as a full-time job, albeit with a smile. While it may be a slight exaggeration, the truth is that every relationship requires ongoing attention and collaborative effort to remain interesting and vibrant. It's also important to recognize that we all engage in behaviour patterns within our relationships, some of which can be hurtful or drive us apart. My approach to couple therapy is Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Through EFT, you and your partner work with me as a process consultant to achieve two goals: 1) raising awareness of the patterns that are driving you apart and 2) creating new patterns that restore connection and trust between you. Together, we will increase self-awareness and develop new ways of communication, ultimately strengthening your relationship or laying a stronger foundation if you decide to part ways.

How Does It Work?

I provide a safe and structured environment where you can explore and recognize your feelings, needs, and boundaries while learning to express them to each other with love and compassion. My method, EFT, is a research-based and highly effective approach. In my therapy room, there is no judgment, as I believe there is always psychological meaning behind any behaviour, no matter how painful it may be for you or your partner

What is Couples Therapy?

Have you ever wondered what exactly couples therapy entails and what benefits you can gain from a program?

Through couples therapy, you will learn to recognize the patterns that influence your relationship dynamics—both within yourselves and in each other. We will uncover the patterns that create distance and pain, pulling you apart. You will gain practical insights into how these patterns manifest in your everyday lives and learn constructive ways to address them. These can include:

  • Active listening

  • Empathy building

  • Communicating effectively from your own perspective

  • Expressing your needs and setting clear boundaries
